Akane Umezu

Born in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture
Graduated from Tama Art University, Faculty of Art, Department of Painting, Major in Oil Painting. Currently enrolled in the Department of Intermediate Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts.

I have explored myself, others (society), and my works from various approaches and materials, including painting, installation, performance, and text expression, and has expressed the relationships between them. As I continued to think about how myself, others (society), and my works are made and what kind of existence they are, I realized that my horizons were broadening and becoming richer. At the same time, my works became richer and more flexible. Expression methods are often experimental, improvised, ironic, repetition of digital and analog expression, text memo, and expressions that use existing formats. Most of the materials used are things that we often see in everyday life, and we are conscious of using things that are familiar and can be used by anyone.
