Ongoing AIR（オンゴーイング・アーティスト・イン・レジデンス）第26弾、
オランダ出身のディオンことDion Soethoudt。ディオンが見た日本、東京、そしてオンゴーイングはどんなものだったのか。
お別れパーティーをかねた報告会を開催します。

以下、作家本人による本展覧会についてのテキストです。

展覧会の幕間に
東京のサラリーマンの日々の通勤における、即興的な問題解決策のドキュメント。 この問題解決策と同じ方法論と理論を用い、どこの職場にもある典型的なオブジェクトへと変換する。

プロジェクトの解説
東京のサラリー（ウー）マンの日々の地下鉄通勤は、様々なコミュニケーション要素で装飾されている。なかでも細かい要素ながら非常に存在感を発揮しているのが「テーピング」だ。駅においてなにかを修復するときのデザイン的解決として、それが何であれ、ほとんどの場合「テープ」が主たる道具として用いられる。これら色とりどりで様々な種類のテープは、幅広い即興的デザイン行為や機能を見せてくれる。実用的で論理的なものから、意味をなさない不器用なものまで。最初の印象では「テーピング」は、その場しのぎで一時的な問題解決策のように見えるが、短期間で明らかな解決策がない場合、この解決策が長期にわたって利用されることも多い。少なくとも、どうしても交換する必要がでてくるまでは（別のテープで）。
この理論と問題解決の形式は、例外なく、東京中の駅構内やその周辺の至るところで発見できる。こうした おびただしい数のテーピングは、東京での日々の通勤の経験やコミュニケーションにおいて重要性（私の見る限りでは）を持つ、粘着質な「ディテール」なのだ。私のこうした関心は、地下鉄（駅）が東京の「過労死」問題の深刻さを実感する主要な舞台のひとつになっているという事実に由来している。地下鉄は、余分な睡眠を取るまたは自殺のための最もよく知られた現場のひとつになっており、犠牲となっているのは主にサラリー（ウー）マンだ。彼らは平均して年間20日間をこの地下鉄（駅）での移動に費やす。意識的にまたは無意識的のうちに、サラリー（ウー）マンはこの「テープ」と対話している。このようなコミュニケーションの真実に、盲目的に依存しながら。
「Temporary logic」展でDion Soethoudtは、政府が東京の地下鉄で用いるのと同じ材料、方法論、理論を用い、それをどこの職場にもある典型的なオブジェクトとして変換して見せる。

Exhibition interlude:
Documenting improvised problem-solving in the daily commute of the salarymen in Tokyo, and adopting the same methodology and reasoning, implementing it onto an archetypical office object.

Project description:
The daily subway commute of the salary(wo)men in Tokyo is decorated with a diverse selection of communication elements. The detailed but very mainly present tool of communication is“taping”. With almost any form of mending in the subway-stations, the applied design solution is solved with the use of“tape”as the main tool. These colorful, divers “tapes”showcase a wide range of improvised design 
implementation and functionality. From practical and logical to non-sensical and clumsy. Initially, the“taping”gives the first impression of a temporary quick solution but in practice often results in a long-term utilization with no clear solution being applied in a short timespan. At least until the undeniable need of replacement (with another piece of tape). 
This form of reasoning and problem-solving can be found, without exception, within and around all the subway-stations of Tokyo. The use of“taping” is in all of its abundance, a sticky detail that carries a importance in the communication and experience of the daily subway commute in Tokyo. The relevancy and importance of interests for me derived from the fact that the subways(stations) are one of the main stages to witness the seriousness of the “Karoshi”problem in Tokyo. Since subways are one of the most popular places for getting extra sleep, and to commit suicide. A problem that victimizes mostly salary(wo)men. It is the salary(wo)men who spend an average of 20 days annually traveling in these subways(stations). Consciously or sub-consciously the salary(wo)men are in dialogue with these “tapes”. Blindly depending on what it communicates is true.
During the exhibition of “Temporary logic” Dion Soethoudt will showcase a reenactment of the same material, methodology, and reasoning the government uses to fix-things in the subways of Tokyo, implementing it onto an archetypical office object(s).
